A revolutionary, patent pending rotary bow that unlocks endless sustained bowed textures on guitar and other stringed instruments through a bold, innovative design, expanding the boundaries of your instrument and opening the door to entirely new musical landscapes.
One Device. Two Effects
The Pickaso Rotary Bow uses continuous wheel motion to create smooth bowed effects through a powerful motor, an elastic wheel, and specially designed outer layers. This unique system produces two main effects, Bow and Tremobow.
The Bow Effect
The Bow effect was inspired by the hurdy gurdy, combined with the feel and function of a traditional bow. A rigid wooden wheel on its own would sound rough and scratchy on strings, especially outside the fixed structure of a hurdy gurdy.
To solve this, we developed an elastic wheel that provides a responsive, cushioned platform, allowing the strings to vibrate naturally without unwanted harshness. Around it, we added a specially engineered outer layer with a thinner contact surface. When paired with rosin, it creates a smooth, beautiful bowed sound with very little side noise.
The Tremobow Effect
The Tremobow effect came later, when we explored a different idea. Instead of relying on the classic stick and slip bowing phenomenon, we asked ourselves, what if the strings were gently struck with speed and precision, like tremolo picking, while still maintaining string vibration?
That idea led to many rounds of testing. We refined the cover material, hardness, pick count, shape, size, and positioning until we achieved the right balance. The result is our Butterfly Cover, a unique design that creates a distinctive hybrid effect, combining the character of tremolo picking with the energy of bowed strings.

How to play?
How to play?
The Pickaso Rotary Bow is a simple and intuitive device to use.
- Connect the device to power using the included USB cable and a compatible USB power adapter.
- Select your desired cover, Bow or Butterfly, and attach it to the wheel.
- Turn the device on and adjust the speed knob to your preferred setting.
- If you are using one of the Bow covers, apply rosin before playing. The Butterfly cover does not require rosin.
- Let the wheel rotate against the strings and explore a wide range of creative sound textures.
- Turn the device off and clean the strings if rosin was used.

- The bow effect can only be achieved with uncoated regular strings, not coated strings such as Elixir. The tremobow effect works on all strings.

Common questions
Yes and no.
The butterfly cover works on all types of strings, including steel, coated, nylon, and others.
The bow covers work only on uncoated steel strings. Elixir and similar coated strings will not produce sound with them.
On nylon or similar strings, the bow covers may still work, but the sound quality will not be as good as it is on steel strings.
Yes. Although designed for acoustic guitar, both the butterfly cover and the bow covers are compatible with virtually any stringed or bowed instrument, including electric guitar, banjo, ukulele, sitar, violin, cello, and more.
For the butterfly cover, rosin is not required.
For the bow covers, rosin is necessary. Applying rosin improves grip and allows them to produce sound properly.
Yes. While not supplied by default, the device is designed to support a 18650 battery pack (1S1P configuration) internally.
We will soon release a detailed DIY guide on how to install the battery and which specific types are compatible. Please do not purchase or install a battery before reviewing this guide to ensure safety and compatibility.
No. The Pickaso Rotary Bow is powered directly via the included USB cable and a compatible USB wall adapter.
No.
Both the bow covers and the butterfly pick cover are much softer than a regular guitar pick and will not damage your strings. Any rosin residue is easy to clean using the cloth provided.
The softer wheel isn’t essential, but we find it more expressive, especially when pressing deeper into the strings. It’s also handy to have an extra wheel, as we include three covers.

Returns are accepted within 60 days from the date the order is marked as delivered, with free return shipping.
For preorders, the policy is as follows:
- Before dispatch
If the order has not yet been dispatched from our warehouse, you may cancel it and receive a full refund, including the original shipping cost. - After dispatch
Once the order has been dispatched, you may still return the product for a full refund of the product price, excluding the original shipping cost, after the item has been returned to us and received at our facility.
